We were lucky enough to have David Rathgen as the guest speaker at our May meeting.

Our April meeting enabled us to meet the new Vicar of the Anglican Parish of St John’s Sorrento and St Andrew’s, Rye.

At our March Meeting, Richard Hawkes gave a really interesting talk on the history of the Hawkes Family and the Farm.

Our first meeting of the Society for 2026 when we were lucky enough to have Liz and Mal Cairns addressing the Society.

November 24th saw the Rye Historical Society celebrate Christmas! Somewhat early, but everyone got into the Christmas spirit.

Instead of our usual meeting and guest speaker, we held an excursion to Cape Schanck Lighthouse.

Julian Varrichio had presented the Society with a copy of his book Mornington Peninsula, Past, Present, Future.

Lynne recapped events of the last 25 years and emphasised the Society’s commitment to expanding its membership and continuing its work to preserve the history of Rye for future generations.

Copies of the AGM Agenda, Minutes of the last AGM, the President’s Report and Treasurer’s Report were available for members.

Our own Noel Tyzack was the guest speaker and his topic was “My Travels in Kenya”.
