End of Year Function – November 2022

The end of 2022 seemed to arrive very quickly. Our end of year function was a social evening held on 28th November at St Andrews Anglican Church Hall. Festive decorations made the Atrium look splendid. Good food, drinks, music and raffles added to the enjoyment. It was an opportunity for everyone to get together in a relaxed setting, catching up with members and friends. There was lots of lively chatter and an enjoyable time was had by all.

October 2022 Meeting

The Rye Historical Society held its monthly meeting on October 24th at the Rye Community House. The guest speaker was John Wilson, President of  the Rye RSL.

John gave a very informative talk in which he provided details in regard to the workings of the RSL and advised on the methods employed by the RSL to assist the Rye community in so many ways. We are indeed fortunate to have the RSL in our midst.

John also told us the story of his life which has been a very interesting one indeed! We were entertained with stories that were both funny and also very moving. Our thanks go to John for sharing his history with us. Those in attendance enjoyed it very much.

As a thank you, Secretary Prue presented John with a copy of The Rye Historical Society’s publication Rye: A Book of Memories.

Visit to RHS by Ambulance Victoria

On 15th November 2022 two members of Ambulance Victoria visited the schoolhouse to give a demonstration on CPR procedures and techniques for using the defibrillator located in the RHS office at the Schoolhouse.

It was a most informative and interesting demonstration. The Ambulance Victoria representatives who conducted the session were terrific and gave us many pointers as to what to do in an emergency. It’s good to know that we are now much more aware of what should be done should we find ourselves in such a situation.

Thanks Ella and Ciara!
