Members were treated to a very interesting talk by Prue Found, Secretary, Rye Historical Society. Prue’s talk was on “The History of St Andrew’s Church, Rye”.
Prue was well placed to deliver such a talk. She is a member of the Parish Council and has been involved with St Andrew’s Church for many years – not only assisting with Council matters but also in serving up breakfasts to around 180 children and families each week and assisting at The Friday Club – (formerly known as the Mental Health Drop-in Centre).
Prue’s talk lived up to expectations, delivering a well thought out and very informative session on the history of St Andrew’s Church, including information on the renovations and extensions to the Church building. Prue also displayed photos of the church from the very early days through to the present time.
Prue then took members through into the Church where members could look at the very interesting wooden items around the church that were made by a parishioner in times gone by. Also of interest was the wooden ceiling in the original part of the church. People who hadn’t seen them before were amazed by the stunning stained glass windows.
Prue’s talk and her knowledge of St Andrew’s was enjoyed and appreciated by all those in attendance.
Thank you Prue!
