Our monthly meeting was held at a different venue in October. The Dromana and District Historical Society very kindly agreed to host us at their premises in the Old Shire Offices in Dromana. Jean Rotherham, President, was unable to attend but Treasurer Janet Egglestone, stepped in and gave us an overview of the Society and how it has evolved. Both Jean and Janet have a long family connection to the Society and have worked tirelessly in bringing it to it’s current standard. Richard Baker, Secretary was also on hand to answer questions. We were treated to a look at the D&DHS museum room which is very well presented and contains some really interesting items. Our members, as well as being very interested in the displays and the many framed photographs on the walls, were absolutely engrossed in the many and varied photo albums on display. For those RHS members who were unable to attend on the day, I would recommend that you pay a visit and have a look at this delightful museum. Opening hours are 2pm – 4pm on the First and Third Sunday of the month.
This visit to a neighbouring historical society was very much enjoyed by our members and the afternoon tea provided by the Dromana & District Historical Society was very much appreciated.
Our thanks to Jean for organising the visit and to Janet and Richard for making Rye Historical Society members so welcome.
