Meeting – May 2026

Guest speaker: David Rathgen, Author

We were lucky enough to have David Rathgen as the guest speaker at our May meeting. David spoke to us about his book “There’s No Place Quite Like it”. In his book, David explores the family history of Walter Withers, a significant yet often overlooked figure in Australian Art – (he was actually a key member of the Heidelberg School) – and his wife Fanny Flinn. David spoke enthusiastically and very knowledgeably about his subject matter, entertaining us with various anecdotes about the life and times of Walter and Fanny. It was a most interesting and enjoyable talk and we are grateful to David and Berry for driving from Phillip Island to attend our meeting.
