On a sunny, but cold and blustery day, members made the effort to go to Sorrento for our May meeting which was held at the Nepean Historical Society and Museum. There were many people in our Society who hadn’t visited the museum for years and some who had never visited at all, so I think everyone appreciated the opportunity.
After afternoon tea, Clive Smith, President of the NHS, advised the gathering about the intricacies of “Victorian Collections“ – a cataloguing system that is used at the NHS. Clive went into great detail to explain its usefulness. An enjoyable afternoon was had by all and we sincerely appreciate Nepean Historical Society’s willingness to have us visit there. Members were very interested in the huge range of items in the collection and I’m sure it will lead to people going back in their own time to have a really good look at the delights the museum has to offer. A big thank you goes to the Nepean Historical Society.

- All the workings of a lime kiln – distracting reflections, but the loads of wood can be seen, and the fires, and the bags of lime and the horses and the men…
