A number of apologies had been received for the April meeting but despite being a little down on numbers, the turnout was better than initially expected and those who were in attendance seemed to be very interested in what our guest speaker had to say. And of course, it’s always a good opportunity to catch up with friends over a “cuppa”!
We were lucky enough to have as our guest speaker our very own Committee member, Ian McBeath. Ian spoke about the Rye Cemetery – (Ian is the Chairman of the Rye Cemetery Trust). Ian’s talk was very informative and there were certainly lots of interesting stories about some of those in residence in the cemetery! Who knew there were so many characters buried in Rye? There were lots of questions from members which is always a good sign of an interesting talk. Thanks go to Ian for entertaining us so well with his stories about the residents of the Rye Cemetery and also updating us on matters to do with the Rye Cemetery generally. I think we all learned a lot.
