Meeting 23rd February 2023

Guest speaker was Councillor Steve Holland, the recently appointed Mayor of the Mornington Peninsula Shire.

Meeting 23rd February 2023

The first monthly meeting of 2023 was held at a new venue – the St Andrews Anglican Church Hall, Rye.  It is hoped that this will be the permanent venue for the Society’s monthly meetings from now on.

The President welcomed members to the first meeting of the year and gave a short overview of the happenings at the Society.  Lynne then introduced the guest speaker – Councillor Steve Holland, the recently appointed Mayor of the Mornington Peninsula Shire.

Cr Holland’s talk was most interesting.  He spoke of his school years on the Mornington Peninsula, his tertiary education, his early working life through to his first foray into local government.  Cr Holland spoke of his vision for the Mornington Peninsula and answered many and varied questions from the audience.

We greatly appreciate Cr Holland taking time out of his busy schedule to come along and speak with us.

Cr Holland was presented with the Society’s “Rye – a Book of Memories” by way of a thank you.
