The Rye Historical Society held its Christmas/End-of-Year celebration on 27th November. It took place at St Andrew’s Anglican Church Hall and was an opportunity for members to get together at the end of the year to catch up with old and new friends in a relaxed setting. Thanks go to Prue for organising the catering for the event. It was a big job! The delicious offerings were greatly appreciated by everyone.
Members were welcomed to the event and the year’s achievements were outlined.
There were a few last-minute apologies due to sickness and other unforeseen events, but those who attended appeared to enjoy the proceedings very much. Good food, good drinks, and most of all, good company – what more could you ask for? A raffle was held – (there were a number of prizes on offer) and the main prize (a beautiful hamper) was won by Danny Jennings. This year we added a Trivia Quiz to the proceedings. It was really good fun and enjoyed by all. Thanks to Cate Cox for the excellent job she did in putting together the Trivia Quiz and to Noel Tyzack for doing such a great job as quizmaster.
